Veliki Štuoc (2104 m) is the northernmost peak of the Durmitor National Park. The Štuoc massif has two peaks - Veliki Štuoc (2104 m) and Mali Štuoc (1953 m). They are connected with an asphalt road that leads to the other side of the Durmitor massif, to the village of Mala Crna Gora and to the entrance to the Sušica canyon. From here you can admire the beauty of the Tara River Canyon and the cliffs of the Ćurevac peak.
Mala Crna Gora (Little Montenegro) is a small village situated 20 kilometers from Žabljak, at an altitude of 1,800 meters. It features breathtaking scenery and authentic architecture. This small village has around 14 habitants who live there all year round. One of its former names was “Freedom island”, given by Montenegrin monarch - king Nikola.
Peak Crvena greda (2175 m) is located in the heart of Durmitor National Park, towering above Žabljak and the Plateau of the lakes. Meaning “Red beam” in the local language, this peak is one of Žabljak’s most prominent and famous landmarks. In the morning, during the rising sun, you can enjoy the beautiful colors of the eastern rocky slopes of Crvena greda, which show off an evident red hue.
Graced with beautiful and untouched nature on the southwest side of the Durmitor mountain massif, Sušica river canyon and lake are a true gem of the national park. The canyon is surrounded by high plateaus on both sides and rests at 1140 m above sea level. The water of the Sušica river formed Sušica lake after glacial erosion and today it is a periodical hydrographic object of immense beauty. Lake is the largest in the springtime, as the glaciers start to melt.
Prutaš (2393 m) is one of the most beautiful peaks of the Durmitor mountain. It is adorned with peculiar oblique slashes across the surface, which is why its name means “twigs” in the local language. Even though it is not the highest peak it boasts the most beautiful view that resembles an alpine panorama.
Resting at an altitude of 1907 m, prevoj Sedlo (Sedlo pass) is known as the highest paved road in Montenegro. The pass is a narrow 49.7 km long stretch through the mountain massif that links Žabljak and Plužine and offers a spectacular drive with breathtaking views of Valovito lake.
