Known as the “Tear of Europe”, Tara River takes pride in being on the UNESCO’s list of protected areas in the “Man and Biosphere” program from 1977 because of its diverse flora and fauna. In some parts, the walls of the Tara Canyon are 1.333 m deep, which makes it the deepest canyon in Europe and the second deepest canyon in the world, after the Colorado Grand canyon. The river boasts stunning scenery, over 40 cascades and a total of 69 of rapids that offer one of a kind experience for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts.
Built from 1938 until 1940, Đurđevića Tara bridge represents an exceptional work of contemporary architecture, and stands as one of the biggest attraction sites in Montenegro and symbols of the Tara River. The bridge boasts five arches, with the main arch spanning across 116 meters. It rises above the river at the hight of over 170 meters, with the total length of 365 m.
